Join us for the start of a new category of Costume On: Master Classes that focuses on creating tools and accessories. The Precision series is for the modern costumer- custom elements that enable more efficient costume fabrication and event travel.
In this one day workshop, students will learn to make a reusable, no-sew pleater board that is steam-friendly and creates perfectly even pleats every time.
The class begins with a summary of pleat styles, applicable to both period and modern eras. Attendees will build a 17" x 17" pleater board in this virtual session in real time with a live teacher and review how to use it, including various pleating techniques (time permitting).
The pleater board may be used for any pleating project, whether period or modern, and produces either knife or box pleats. Students will choose which type of board to make at the start of class, information will be given on alternate pleater board variations. The workshop includes a pdf handout and supply list of required materials.
